Awnings require complex patterns, and it used to take hours to design accurate patterns for them. Thanks to new design technology, and a collaboration between two companies who understand the special challenges that designing and manufacturing awnings pose, awning design and manufacturing just got a whole lot easier.
One Seamless Solution
Trivantage is the largest business-to-business supplier for the awning, marine, upholstery, and shade sail industries in the U.S. Autometrix is an industry leader in fabric cutting machines and automated cutting solutions. These two companies brought two pieces of software together – Trivantage’s Awning Composer and Autometrix’s Eclipse into one seamless solution.
Click, Type, Build
Now you can take a picture of a real building, design an awning for it, see what it will actually look like and where the shade will hit at different times of the year, and then design a digital pattern that will allow that very awning to be manufactured. Awning Composer gives your customer a photo-realistic view of their new awning, and Eclipse automatically creates ready-to-cut patterns from that design.
Not only does this new pattern software solution save a huge amount of time over the previous manual process, it saves money because there are fewer mistakes, and the patterns are nested more efficiently, which saves fabric.
Saves Time and Money
This is big news for awning manufacturers who were using one piece of software or the other. Not only does this new pattern software solution save a huge amount of time over the previous manual process, it saves money because there are fewer mistakes, and the patterns are nested more efficiently, which saves fabric.
The Old Way Was a Lot Harder
Are you an awning manufacturer who is still teetering on ladders outside of buildings, holding up sticks to see where the sun will hit? Scribbling approximations of what that awning might look like on the actual building? Hand tracing templates for valances and manually lining up the stripes on the cutting table? Imagine how much time and money you can save by using technology.
Sound unbelievable? Watch this video where Brandt Sharp of Sharp’s Tarps talks about how Eclipse helped his business save money and time. Or let us walk you through the process of designing an awning using Eclipse in this demo video.
