Being located in a rural community certainly has its perks \u2013 no traffic, a beautiful natural environment — but there is a down side. We have to work a little harder to develop local talent and keep our employment pipeline full. To this end, Autometrix is pleased to welcome four amazing summer interns who will gain important skills and experience working for a local high-tech manufacturing company. As part of the Nevada County Tech Connection<\/a>\u2019s talent development program, Autometrix will connect these interns with other interns in the county, hosting one of four events where the interns will get to know each other as well as participate in some of the fun summer activities Nevada County has to offer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elliot Kramer is a senior at USC in Los Angeles, studying Aerospace Engineering. His dream is to do aerodynamic design for a car or airline company. He will be working in the design department at Autometrix. Kramer has played the trombone since 4th grade, and now plays in a jazz band. <\/span><\/p>\n

Calvin Johnson is a senior at California Baptist University in Riverside, studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. Like Kramer, he enjoys doing 3D modeling. He hopes to gain engineering experience at Autometrix, and get a better understanding of the difference between classroom and production settings so that he can translate his classroom knowledge into practical projects. Johnson loves sports, especially volleyball and basketball. He also enjoys camping and backpacking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Decker Krogh will spend his third summer as an intern at Autometrix this year. In previous summers at Autometrix, he has worked on projects in both the engineering and production departments, helping to build and test cable assemblies. Krogh will enter the 12th grade in the Fall, and is considering majoring in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering when he goes to college. In his spare time Krogh loves to run everything from short sprints on the track to marathon distances. <\/span><\/p>\n

Christian Kissinger is working on his Bachelors in Computer Science at CSU Sacramento. In his tenure at Autometrix he hopes to learn what it takes to be a true embedded developer. Kissinger enjoys tinkering with computers, mostly software, and some hardware.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, a previous intern has moved into a remote software development employee position. Nick worked for Autometrix as an intern, developing a mobile app while he was studying computer science at Sierra College. \u00a0Over the past few years he has learned a lot about many types of software development and what it’s like to work with a team of professionals. He enjoys writing software to make people’s lives easier, and hopes to continue to do so in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, Autometrix would like to thank Vaughn Owens, our Shipping Coordinator, who has been with us as a part-time employee since 2016. Owens graduated from high school this year and will be attending CSU Sacramento in the fall to study mechanical engineering. Vaughn is grateful for the opportunity Autometrix gave him to learn about time management and how to interact professionally with other employees at a workplace. We appreciate his great attitude and willingness to learn and wish him much luck in his career!<\/span><\/p>\n
